Utah Jazz star named Western Conference Player of the Week

The past week has been good for Utah Jazz, and it’s no coincidence that it has been good for Donovan Mitchell too. The team went 4-0, with the young goalkeeper enjoying his best part of the season.

In fact, he was good enough to be named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week.

Utah Jazz Goalkeeper Donovan Mitchell Delivers Masterclass in Efficiency

A quick glance at Mitchell’s stats for the week would be enough to convince anyone he deserved the designation. During the week, Spida averaged 33 points and 5.7 assists per game, while shooting 43% from three points and 93% (14 of 15) from the free throw line.

Utah Jazz fans were especially encouraged to see such shooting efficiency from their player franchise. After all, it’s not something they’ve necessarily seen of him throughout the season.

Utah Jazz goalie Donovan Mitchell hits the mark

One of the oldest adages in the NBA is that shooters should shoot. Donovan Mitchell had not necessarily been the image of efficiency at the start of the 2021-22 season. He had to continue to generate attack anyway: this attack on the Utah Jazz does not work otherwise.

This week Mitchell has found his rhythm and has never let it go. He improved his season averages to 24.2 points per game, shooting 44.6% from the field and 33.7% on 9.2 attempts from three points per game.

Jazz fans are hoping Mitchell’s hot week represents a return to form. Of course, Mitchell is unlikely to average 33 points and 5.7 assists while shooting 43% from depths for the remainder of the season. Such a production would make him a modernized Michael Jordan.

Still, his scorching week should give them hope that he will likely end this season with numbers roughly in line with those he produced last year.

When Donovan Mitchell is hot, this Utah jazz club is insanely hard to beat. No one got to do it last week, and it’s probably more important to Mitchell than any individual accolades.
