Sixers to host Blue x White scrum on Saturday after a year off

After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sixers are bringing back their annual Blue x White scrum, the team said on Monday.

The free event will take place this Saturday at 12:15 p.m. at the Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Delaware, where the Delaware Blue Coats play.

A limited number of fan tickets can be purchased by visiting this link on Wednesday at 1 p.m. and entering the promo code BWSGP, the team said in its press release. All scrum fans must wear masks. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m.

The scrum will be broadcast on Sixers.com and the Sixers social media pages.

A lot has changed since the last Blue x White scrum, both for the Sixers and for the world at large. In 2019, Ben Simmons’ three-point shot was an object of pre-game fascination. Matisse Thybulle shone in the fray, racking up deflections and interceptions and blocks that turn heads.

Simmons has requested a trade and has withdrawn from training camp – he’s not with the Sixers for their Monday night preseason opener against the Raptors – while Thybulle comes out of a selection of the second All-Defensive team.

Saturday’s scrum is between the Sixers’ second and third preseason games. After two clashes with the Raptors, the Sixers will conclude the exhibition game with a home game next Monday against the Nets and a road game next Friday against the Pistons.
