Rock County Police Arrest Suspect Over Stolen Car Series

JANESVILLE, Wisconsin – The Rock County Sheriff’s Office arrested a person Tuesday night for suspected auto theft and hit-and-run.

Police said on Tuesday they responded to reports of a hit and run at 4:23 p.m. The incident occurred on State Highway 140 in Bradford Township.

The suspected hit-and-run car was seen driving east on US Highway 14. Authorities said it was a stolen car in Genoa City.

At 6:30 p.m., Rock County MPs responded to a car crash in the city of Newark involving the previous stolen vehicle.

Police said the driver fled the car crash in another stolen car, which was later recovered in Illinois, crashed into a ditch.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed working with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois to place the lone suspect in custody.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered the suspect was involved in a series of other crimes.

These crimes, along with the events of Tuesday, are still under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
