Norma Kruse, 80, Rock Rapids | Obituary


ROCK RAPIDS — Norma Jean Kruse, 80, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Rock Rapids Care Center.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 11 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden with Reverend Daniel Baker as celebrant.

Interment will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Boyden.

Family visitation will be on Friday June 11 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

The Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden, Iowa, is helping the family with the arrangements.

On Wednesday June 9, 2021, Norma Jean Kruse, loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away at the age of 80.

Norma J. Kruse was born April 16, 1941 in Sheldon, Iowa, to Hilton and Bena (Wesselink) Den Hartog. She grew up in Sheldon and worked at the Corner Cafe and the Sheldon Bakery.

Norma loved spending time with her family. We all have many fun and loving memories of spending time with her. She enjoyed camping and fishing.

She also enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her friend Colleen Atkins. Colleen was a very special friend to her for the past 10 years.

His most valuable possessions were his collection of dolls. She enjoyed doing puzzles, playing Wahoo, and collecting stuffed animals. Writing letters to her niece, Charlotte Landry, was something she also loved very much.

She married Walter Kruse on November 24, 1973. Walter died on September 15, 1978.

She then married Harry Van Wyk on April 19, 1980. Harry died on November 12, 1992.

She then settled in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Norma was predeceased by her parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Eva and George Landry; her sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and George Armington; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernie and Minnie Den Hartog and Howard and Hermina Den Hartog.
