Highlighting local musical talent, the Boomerang Concert Series returns to the Chilliwack Cultural Center for an evening of music.
On February 26, Sarah Wills will lead a lineup of musicians that will fill the Rotary Hall Studio Theater with jazz and even rock and roll.
“The concert should be a wonderfully relaxing night filled with jazz of all kinds and acoustic rock. We have three sets that feature acoustic rock, gypsy jazz, and then classic jazz combos of swings and such,” Wills said.
“Gypsy is special because he has no drums; it has guitar and bass acting as a regular rhythm section to let the violinist shine and showcases everyone in different styles of gypsy jazz, from slow ballads to fast swing.
Up-and-coming local rock band Tayos will perform an acoustic set.
It will be a variety of music ranging from classic swing jazz to the driving rhythms of gypsy jazz, with jazz fiddle and acoustic rock dotted throughout.
“All the musicians on it are people I’ve played with or had musical knowledge with, and I’m happy to be able to play with some of them again.”
Boomerang Seven – Sarah Wills arrives at the Chilliwack Cultural Center February 26 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Center box office, online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca or by calling 604-391- SHOW (7469).
