The LVYJO had a wonderful program this year. During the first months of the spring semester, JOI Artistic Director Kenny Rampton invited many jazz greats to come talk to our students.

The students spent time with some of the most famous artists in the world of jazz, including members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Victor Goines and Chris Crenshaw, internationally renowned tenor saxophonist Donny McCaslin, local Las Vegas musicians and composers. Nathan Tanouye and Jorge Machain, Sherrie Maricle (leader of the DIVA Jazz Orchestra) and tenor saxophonist / singer Camille Thurman. All of these guest artists spoke to our students about their lives and their music.

Camille Thurman will appear as special guest soloist on LVYJO’s final recording of the semester, Chris Crenshaw’s arrangement of the classic song Milestones by Miles Davis, arranged by Chris Crenshaw for Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The LVYJO will present its spring 2021 online concert on Wednesday, May 19 on its YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
