Julie Reeves: Sam Hunt tops country music charts | Features / Entertainment

TOP: Congratulations to Sam Hunt. He tops the country music charts this week with “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90s”. Sam says, “It’s a song that talks a bit about the time. My favorite line from this song is: “Modern love leads to the breaking of modern hearts.” I am just a product of my generation. Just a fun, simple thought about how harder it is to be so connected, the downside of being so connected, these days. Did you know that the track hardly made it on his album “Southside”? Sam shares, “Yeah, that was the one that was written at the ninth hour and turned out to be pretty cool, I thought, so we put it on the record.”

INSPIRATION: The idea for Dan + Shay’s “Glad You Exist” started on Dan Smyers’ phone as something he said to his wife… and that was before the events surrounding 2020. Shay Mooney says: “After that song came together… I feel like, you know, when we finally got to record it – it was in my forties – and I feel like the entire timing of the how the song formed was not only good for our fans, and the message was good for our fans, but also for us!

ALBUM: Alan Jackson’s new album, “Where Have you Gone” – his first in six years – is out now. Alan’s new project features 21 songs – 15 of them written by Alan himself, who says, “Some of the best songs I feel like I’ve ever created.” Speaking of “Where Have You Gone,” Alan shares, “This album is about life, love and heartache, drink and dance, crying and death and Mama, and of all of the good stuff that has always been a part of good country music continues with this album – a little more of the same. “

TOUR: Fresh off his shows at Bonnaroo Farm in Tennessee this weekend, Jason Aldean has announced tour dates for 2021. One of those tour stops is October 14 at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center. After his sold-out concerts Jason said, “It was emotional to be back on stage with my band for the first time in a year this weekend. It made us all even more ready to come back to life as we all know it. Being on the road makes us all – the band, the team and I – happy, and I haven’t felt so excited about going on tour in 15 years.

Julie Reeves is the host of the night on Big Buck Country 101.5. Bill Cornwell also contributes.
