We are very happy to announce that music star and songwriter James McVey is joining Smooth Country to host a five night special where he celebrates top country music artists.

Country music from A to Z with James McVey will air on Smooth Country from Monday, October 18 to Friday, October 22, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Country music superfan and member of The Vamps, James announced earlier this year that he dreams of being a presenter on Smooth Country.

His social media and television campaign to host his own show has worked, with James joining the station’s lineup next week.

For five nights at County AZ music, James will celebrate some of the biggest names in country music, with legends such as Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks and Johnny Cash.

It will also cover line dance music and the evolution of the genre from the rockabilly sound of the 1950s to the “Bro Country” phase of the early 2010s.

Launched in 2019, Smooth Country plays the best of country music, with iconic artists including Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Shania Twain and Lady A.

James McVey said, “I am delighted to join Smooth Country to present The AZ of Country Music. For me, country has always been the backbone of my writing, the heart of my playlists, and my absolute favorite genre to watch live.

“I’ve been a country fan for 15 years, but my passion exploded after Taylor Swift sent me a collection of her favorite songs in 2014. I can’t wait to play some of my favorite songs on the air, but also excited I hope to share some anecdotes from my time with The Vamps.

Smooth Country is available across the UK on DAB digital radio, on Global Player on your smart speaker (‘play Smooth Country’), on an iOS or Android device and on SmoothCountry.co.uk.

Meanwhile, Eamonn Kelly will count down the top 50 listeners’ favorite country artists in Smooth Country Icons, aired on Saturday 23 October from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Closing of the votes on October 17 at midnight.
