The Jazzman recently responded to a tweet from a fan who said, “Selfishly I wish you’d stay and rest,” rather than spending the NBA offseason playing for the Boomers at the Olympics. .

“No chance”, Ingles replied. “I’m very fond of my Aussie guys.”

The Tokyo Games will be the Australian striker’s fourth Olympics. He played for the Boomers in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics.

Ingles last played for the Australian national team at the 2019 FIBA ​​World Cup. During this international competition, Ingles averaged 10.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

During the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, Ingles recorded 7.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

In the international game, Ingles helped the Boomers win three medals, including a pair of gold from the FIBA ​​Oceania Championship.

The Tokyo Games are scheduled to start on July 23 and end on August 8.

The forward and the Jazz recently ended their 2020-21 season with a semifinal loss in the NBA Western Conference Playoffs.

In his end-of-season media interview, Ingles said he plans to improve his game during the offseason.

“No doubt in my mind that I will come back better,” said the Jazzman. “It’s what I’ve been doing every year since I’ve been here.

Ingles finished his seventh season in the league averaging 12.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

His 12.1 points per game tied his career high for a season. Ingles shot a career-best 48.9% from the field, including 45.1% from three points.
