CLEVELAND, Ohio – With Memorial Day weekend, the arrival of summer begins! As with many events this year, some adjustments were necessary with regard to the indoor antique exhibits.
The Midwest Holiday Antique Show, which normally takes place on the Saturday before Memorial Day, has been postponed. The Ohio State Fairgrounds won’t be able to host this feature, but the good news is that another date and location has been set. It is now scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 25 at the Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road, just off the Ohio Turnpike.
On this Memorial Day, we honor all those who lost their lives fighting for our country. Parades are now in order in many communities so please support your local memories. Woodland Cemetery Soldiers Lot is located in Cleveland, while the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery is located in Rittman.
The poppies are the symbol of the sacrifice of life offered by our soldiers. They grew up in places such as Flanders Fields in northern Belgium. The red colored blanket signifies the tragic loss of life, but the blossoming presence is a tribute to all brave souls. Between all the crossroads of the battlefield, life is reborn with this beautiful flower, as a lasting tribute.
Today, the VFW and the American Legion continue this tradition by making artificial poppies for fundraising. It’s called their Buddy Poppy program.
Fly your flag, support retired military posts and wear a poppy to honor our soldiers. “We will keep the faith!”
Hello Yenke Peddler,
My parents brought this bowl from Japan 65 years ago. Everything is porcelain. Please indicate the value.
Your blue and white porcelain bowl with lattice sides is a beautiful piece. It is an artisanal manual work, in which the clay has been wound into ropes to be intertwined. The name of the oven is signed on the base. This blue and white pattern is called Hasanu items, while some call it the sukashi lattice technique. Many were presented in a wooden box. Yours is in excellent condition, and as vintage pottery would be valued at $ 85.
If you have an item to rate, send a clear picture with history to Yenke Peddler, Brenda Yenke, PO Box 361633, Strongsville, Ohio, 44136. You can also send photos and inquiries to Brenda for review at firstname.lastname@example.org.
