Although they failed to lift the FA Cup, it was a successful start to life under Thomas Tuchel for Chelsea.
But while the Blues have reached the Champions League final, there are still several areas in Tuchel’s squad that will need to be strengthened if they are to mount a challenge for the title next season.
One of the main targets for the Stamford Bridge side is a new striker, although options other than a move for Harry Kane will need to be explored.
The Premier League side are also set to improve their defensive options, as Tuchel looks to find the right balance in his three full-backs.
Here, Mirror football check out the latest Chelsea transfer news …
Clauss’s interest “ signaled ”
One area in which Thomas Tuchel is set to recruit reinforcements is the midfielder, with Chelsea now keeping an eye on RC Lens star Jonathan Clauss.
The 28-year-old didn’t join the Ligue 1 squad until last May, but has collected seven assists in 34 appearances this season, the same number as Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic combined.
This helped Lens to finish in the first half of his first season in the French top flight, with Kicker claiming Chelsea have “shown interest” in the midfielder.
Chelsea contact Lacroix agents
Another area Tuchel hopes to strengthen is defense and it looks like Chelsea have found a player to target.
That man is Maxence Lacroix, who is currently on Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and has a valuation of around £ 26million.
Sky Germany report that the Blues have contacted representatives of the French during a summer move.
Although his contract does not expire until the summer of 2024, he refuses to sign a new deal, with Sky saying Wolfsburg could be tempted to close a sale.
Blues eye Lewandowski movement
Chelsea are said to have inquired about the availability of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
Lewandowski is one of the best forwards in the world and recently tied Gerd Muller’s record for most goals in a single Bundesliga season of 40.
The Blues are looking for a consistent goal scorer after Timo Werner’s struggles this season.
A target that interests them seems to be Lewandowski, with Sky Germany claiming the London club had already contacted Bayern about a possible deal.
