Caleb Kennedy has announced that he will be performing this year at the Greenville Country Music Fest on September 11 at the CCNB Amphitheater at Heritage Park in Simpsonville.
âThis is actually the first real big concert I’ve been to,â Kennedy said. “And I’m going to play it. It’s crazy.”

Kennedy will perform songs from his EP, including:
- “It will catch up with me one day”
- “I miss my friends”
- “Nowhere”
- “Why did you leave like this”
âI’m going to play a set of about 20 minutes, in the back of a van in the middle of the crowd,â Kennedy said.

Kennedy says he’s thrilled to receive backstage passes to meet the concert’s headliners. Many are singers and songwriters he has admired for years, and one song in particular by Laine Hardy helped him while performing on American Idol.
âThis song (‘Ground I Grew Up On’) reminded me of my home when I was in California,â Kennedy said. âThis song helped me a lot. I listened to it over and over again. It turns out that Brandon Kinney was one of the main authors of this song. I got to meet him and write a song with him when I was went to Nashville. “

The two wrote “That’s the One” during a four-hour songwriting session in Nashville. Kennedy said working with experienced songwriters like Kinney would help him find his sound.
Since the release of Kennedy’s American Idol, he has continued to write music and recently shared a few new songs with the Herald-Journal.
Kennedy will then perform on August 12 at Music on Main in downtown Spartanburg.
