Bretman Rock, the Philippines-born internet sensation and YouTube vlogger, was named the new Breakthrough Social Star at the first-ever MTV Awards: Unscripted Tuesday (Manila time).
In his acceptance speech, Bretman said he “never won anything.”
âHey guys, I’ve never prepared a speech before so what I’m about to say isn’t written down or anything,â he began.
âI want to thank everyone who watched me grow up on the Internet. This is probably the most traumatic [thing] I’ve done it all my life. But it’s worth it because I’m here on stage to accept this award, âhe added.

Bretman then dedicated his award to all Asian Americans who believe in him, as well as Pacific Islanders and the LGBTQ community.
On Instagram, Bretman thanked his millions of followers for supporting his efforts.
âWe have a long way to go and I can’t wait to see where I go,â he wrote.
In January of this year, Bretman was introduced as MTV’s new reality TV star, with his own show titled “MTV Next: Bretman Rock” which premiered on the cable channel on February 8th.
The series began filming late last year, according to MTV, and is set in Hawaii, where Bretman is based with his family.
Bretman’s family moved to the US state of Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, his hometown in the Philippines, when he was 8 years old.
