JACKSON, MI – Country music artist Russell Dickerson will be returning to the Faster Horses Festival for his second time – now, as lead artist.
In 2016, he performed on the “Next from Nashville” stage of Faster Horses, a venue for emerging country artists. It’s a complete moment for Dickerson, who said he can’t wait to celebrate the trip.
“To get from Nashville’s Next to where we are now, I can’t wait to talk to the fans about it,” Dickerson said.
Dickerson is spending July 15 at his home in Nashville, TN with his wife Kailey and son Remington and can’t wait to load up his tour bus for the ride to Faster Horses. At the same time, Faster Horses fans set up their campsite as they prepare for the event July 16-18 at Michigan International Speedway.
And for Dickerson, there’s nothing quite like happening in the Midwest in the summer.
“The country fans out there are just on a whole new level,” he said. “I feel like they’ve been locked up all winter… (they’re ready to go out) and ready to rage.”
Dickerson will be partying with country fans in Brooklyn at 6:05 p.m. on July 17.

The move from the “Next from Nashville” stage to the main stage also changed Dickerson’s routine. In 2016 it played for about half an hour and ended at 4 p.m.
“Now it’s like… you can’t break a beer at noon and then expect to take the stage,” Dickerson said.
The singer has said he will save the drink for after his show when he relaxes and prepares to head to his next performance in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin on July 18.
The album was released in December 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic banned live music, so these are songs that haven’t been played as much live.
“‘With Love You Like I Used To’, it was a two week number one, longest-running top ten in country radio history, and we couldn’t experience it with the fans, ”Dickerson said.
Dickerson said he couldn’t be more grateful to see his fans again in person. However, it’s bittersweet, he says.
“It’s always that bittersweet moment, even when we were in quarantine, it’s like enjoying where you are right now because it’s going to get crazy again and you’re going to wish you had a week off,” Dickerson said.
Dickerson said it will soon be September and he will join country music duo Florida Georgia Line for their I love my country tour, which has a Detroit tour date of October 28.
But Dickerson said he liked the tours. With his new tour bus, he can travel with his family.
“It is the greatest blessing in the world,” Dickerson said. “Having that really changes the whole touring game. “
Dickerson is still working on new music and said he was “sitting on so many new songs”. He said he was not making any promises but expected to release new music at the end of the year or early 2022.
To his Faster Horses fans, Dickerson told to prepare.
“Anyone reading this is coming to Faster Horses, just get ready for RD party, baby,” Dickerson said.
