Four people, including a Dallas firefighter, were injured Tuesday morning when a fire broke out at a White Rock apartment complex.

Firefighters were called to Legends on Lake Highlands Apartment Homes in the 11000 block of Lake Highlands Drive around 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The apartment complex is just south of the Northwest Highway.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said a firefighter was rushed to hospital with a lower body injury after falling from a ladder while rescuing a resident. The firefighter should be fine, Evans said.

Two residents were also taken to hospitals for burns, while a third resident was treated by first responders but chose not to go to hospital, Evans said.

The first started in the kitchen of a first-floor apartment but spread to the upper floors of the two-story building, according to Evans. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and the damage was limited to four units of the 16-unit building, he said.

The apartments management has set up housing in vacant apartments for the displaced residents, Evans said.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, Evans said. No information was immediately available.
